Serious Dogs
The co-owner James Woodin came out and was super
friendly and welcoming. Looking at the menu the first thing that caught my eye
was the fried Oreos! I do not like Oreos like that but I may have to try these.
I did suggest frying the Golden Oreos for people that do not like chocolate. I
ended up ordering the Coney Style Dog; hotdog with chili, onion, mustard, and
shredded cheddar cheese. I love a good Coney Dog and I feel like it is a staple
in this Michigan, especially Detroit that is known for Coney Dog.
What sets Serious Dogs apart from other hotdog places is the use of all Angus hotdogs, a New England style bun, and mile-high toppings. This bun is a game changer! At first, I couldn't wrap my mind around it. It is like they took the bread you get from Raising Cain’s and made it into a hotdog bun. When the food arrived, I was surprised by the size of the dog. I actually had to cut it in half because I did not know how to eat it whole (crazy right!). I tried to illustrate how tall this hotdog was by putting my finger next to it.
This hotdog was as tall
as my pointer finger and my hands are not small by any means! This hotdog was
so good. The chili had meat in it and was not a chili paste that you see at
other places. Being a French fry lover, I was very pleased with SD's fries.
These fries had a great balance of crunchy on the outside and soft on the
inside. These fries had great flavor!
Overall Serious Dogs is definitely worth a visit or two, three, for me at least 14! The atmosphere is laid-back, the menu diverse, the owner is friendly and the food is delicious! Try it out and let me know what you think.
